Some website problems I'm trying to finish.

http://sk8parks.org.au/contactus.html

  1. My date text and field moves to the right, but should be lined up nicely on the left margin.
  2. I need help how to set up the contact form being sent, a confirmation/thank you email to user.

This is my test website that’s not online the whole time.
My first post on this forum, so let me know if I should have pasted the 83 lines of code?

Sorry, does anyone also know a good free forum site I can use to put into the website to make a forum for users?

That depends if you wish to host the forum yourself or have it hosted for you?

If you host it yourself you can access the database and as such even get stats from it on your website. If you have it hosted, it is very unlikely that the host will allow you to access the database yourself.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I am hosting the website on my PC.
I’m working on setting up the contact form now, but if anyone has some tips, it would be appreciated.

You can go for phpBB forum

Thanks for the reply.
I have my own PC for hosting, thanks.
I am looking for a free forum to setup on my website if you have some more links?

http://www.mybb.com/

http://phpbb.com is phpbb, one of the more popular ones and is free and open source. you can also try http://www.simplemachines.org/ which is also free and is the system this forum uses.

Thanks for the replies. I will be looking at the forum sites after I finish this contact form I’m stuck on.
It’s not sending/receiving emails even after I type in the code as per a tutorial?

Should I post the website code here or is that not a good idea?

you could, but it all depends on your host as well. Is it free or paid hosting? Not all free hosting sites allow you to use mail functions

@RaythXC: He is using his own PC for hosting  May be he need to use ISP’s mail service and make some changes for this in php.ini file. Not sure :stuck_out_tongue:

Using your own PC. I’m assuming you’re using WAMP then? I’m pretty sure you still need to install some kind of sendmailer to work with php. Or you could set up your PHP files to SMTP through another server (gmail?)

Great…thanks for the free forum ideas.
I haven’t found one yet that has a good karma/bad karma vote option which I really like.
Any tips, let me know…how exciting

The karma thing is usually an addon.

Thanks for the help.
Looks like it’s still developing.

If I have time I’ll help. Thanks again, working on a few final bugs now.

I would use SMF which this forum is written in. It is extremely easy to set up.
All you need is WAMP or another system with PHP and MySQL set up. It walks you thru it and it is great!
You all are using it now… Look at the link below at the bottom of this page…
