Okay heres the link http://www.bxwebdesign.com/template.php notice how everything is everywhere well under the HOME tab im trying to create a drop down menu helping to fix would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
How can you do webdesign? When you don’t know the basics of HTML and CSS?
It appears you got it worked out.
Now for the site itself,
[ol][li]entirely to many images for the markup.[/li]
[li]white text on grey background is hard to read.[/li]
[li]mailto links are not used anymore for a reason. They are a honeypot for spambots.[/li]
[li]If link pages are not ready yet, don’t have them active. 404 pages look bad, even if the site is still in development.( Like you did with the social media links, although those tend to be icons )[/li]
[li]Your index page is a single menu item and nothing else?[/li][/ol]
You are not ready to sell services. Least they expect that you actually know what you are doing. Wait, refine, learn, then start small.

oh sorry nvm ur not even a mod ur a “professional php helper” lol some help u got.
This is starting to be fun poking you.
Let’s see, I do what you pretend to do for a living. You plan on selling your “services” as a web designer, yet had trouble with a simple css rule.
Since you need the help, try looking for an updated set of tutorials. Maybe actually look into what web design means? Color theory comes into play.
In other news, it is a help to actually post the markup you are using when asking for help and coming up with a better title than, “PLEASE HELP PLEASE!!!” So, that people have an idea of what they are stepping into.
Grammar may also help you at least look more professional, although when they see your work they will wonder. The joy of everyone being a web developer, because they can Google it.
Okay well, you must make so much money, seeing as you have so many posts on here you must be spending your time designing so many sites and being a professional. Instead of talking shit maybe you should answer peoples questions. I was asking why it works with IE properly and Not Mozilla. But probably should have just took my own advice and not asked someone “Professional” as yourself. Of course its a CSS problem. Thanks for wasting my time and Server space.
The most effective way, and makes the site mobile friendly which you are lacking, would be to use something like bootstrap. It makes the site work across all modern browsers and makes adding more functionality faster.
FYI, I am a Developer, not a designer. That means I make the sites and applications work. The designer makes it pretty.
I’m a web developer also - but all web developers must be able to do CSS. We have to bring other people’s designs to life.
Stick with developing - once you get the hang of it, it gets easy. I’m not a PHP Developer like astonecipher, I live in the .net world. I doubt I’ll ever make the switch professionally, been with the same company for 18 years now making 198k USD. I can’t wait till February rolls around - That’s when raises come out, I’ll should hit the 200k USD mark then.
Once you get good, land a real job, and get a salary - You’ll have plenty of free time to post on forums, do all kinds of side projects, etc. Unlocktheinbox.com is my side project and when I post - I’m link building at the same time, which is a form of SEO.
Anyway, I’ll share a little piece of advice - I looked over your website…
Have you ever heard of “AdBlock Plus”? It’s an ad blocking plug-in that a good percentage of the internet uses to block ads on sites.
The banners on your website are being blocked because it triggers this rule…
||com/banners/$image,object,subdocument
Since your directory is named banners - everything in it will be blocked. As a rule of thumb, you should never name a directory that on a published website.
Go ahead and install it - https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
One thing about web design and development is learning how to reach the maximum audience. A lot of people don’t realize all the different web filtering plug-ins and software people have running that can make your site not function properly. This knowledge comes with experience and that experience is what ultimately determines your pay.
Thank you very much for your input its greatly appreciated I used to run a fan website years ago but I forgot how to do most stuff I just recently got back into everything so. I know how to do a lot of html and css and even php as you can see but Im just getting back into it so. I plan on working on some projects. I got stuck on something it happens sometimes when you go through the code and miss something small. But thanks.
I may come across as a prick, cause I am, but I have over a decade in software/ web development. You will also find that most programmers are a bit sarcastic.
My opinions on your site are for you to improve it not knock what you have done. As I said, I am not a designer, but I have worked with some of very good ones over the years and you tend to pick stuff up, if you are listening. Development standards also change constantly, so what was common practice 2 years ago has been updated and polished.
For instance, mobile friendly sites used to be an add-on that not many cared about. Now, Google drops your search index placement for not having a mobile friendly site. Color schema makes people want to read what you have. If you can’t read it then you will move on to another that you can. The images just come into load times. The slower the connection; the slower the page loads; the more irritated people get when they have to wait.
That is weird because I have ad block plus but why is the ad still showing up then? again thanks for the help I appreciate it and yes experience is everything. I do have a lot of experience I wish I had more obviously but that will come in time… Doesn’t mean I got to take shit from some half wit… If I knew everything id educate not talk a bunch of crap…
Also I know about waiting I use Mozilla Firebug to check it all to see how fast my stuff is loading also. I plan on making a much better looking site (much simpler, more friendly). But ya man you should help people instead of criticizing people. Im only a prick when I need to be. I also noticed all the changes too I use to do this stuff like 5 years ago, a lot has changed. Thanks!
– I am a prick, I know it and don’t mind it.–
Seriously, look into something like bootstrap, knockout, or the like. That will update your layout skills far beyond the 90’s way of tables. Which, while it worked, it was not the best way ad got confusing fast when dealing with an issue.
i don’t really see a need for it because I don’t every want the table sizes to change because I don’t want my image sizes to change and look all messed up I might possibly make a dedicated section for mobile devices and then I will use css then to define the table %s. right now I use css mainly for styling tables such as the Bg image or BG color and txt decorations and such for the tables and hardcode the tables in html and use PHP includes so I don’t have to load every single thing in every sect. theres 100 ways to do 100 things. thanks for the advice.
