New on PHP. Need Help!

Hi all. I just bought Wrox’s Book «Beginning PHP5, Apache, MySQL Web Development»

I tried installing AMP according to the book but somehow I couldn’t do it. Then I went online and browsed through a few tutorials and managed to install AMP. Everything seems to be working fine, but when typing ‘http://localhost/index.php’ into de browser, I get the HTTP 400 error on IE or ‘Unable to connect to localhost’ on Firefox. I think something might be wrong with my httpd.conf file but just can’t figure it out.

Sounds like you don’t have a valid server root folder set up for Apache to serve from (or you don’t have any of the requested files available in the server root folder). You might want to check out if these settings are correct.
