Login/Registration Script - All on the same page...

Hi everyone…

This is for a small sports league.

I have a create login script. I have a registration script the user is dumped into after confirming the login creation.

What I’m trying to do is have the create login, and the registration all on the same page. User fills out everything on one page. An email is sent to the new user and the user never has to look back, unless he/she moves, or changes their league selection.

Unfortunately, I’m dealing with people who don’t want to register for this to begin with, and most of them play soccer, and don’t have experience with computers they need to understand anything more complicated.

How would I combine these scripts so that everything can be on one page.

Here’s the page… http://www.jpcsolutions.com/sports

I don’t have the code with me right now, but if I need to post it, please let me know and I’ll find a way to get to it.

Thanks,

Jared

Not sure what you are asking, but, it is easy to combine it all…

Place ALL of the page in one FORM.
Just place the login sections first with options for userid and password.
Place a pretty square around it to set it off from the next seciton.
Add the login button which send it to the PHP page.

Place the next section with all of the registration sections in it with a square around
it to set it off from the last square…
Add all of the registration stuff there with a button to register, sending it to the same PHP page.

Place the third section with the enter verification sections in it with another button.

When ANY of the buttons are pressed, it will send each to the same PHP page. On that page, the
PHP code will tell which button was pressed and decide what to do with the data on the form that
was sent to it. If the login button was pressed, it will use just the userid and password fields and
see if the person is a valid and verified user. If so, they get into the site.
If the register button was pressed, then they would be sent a letter with the secret code in it and
be sent to a verification page requesting the code.
If they pressed the enter-verification button, send them to the same page as after sending the email.

Not sure if that is what you are asking, hope it helps… Good luck…

Attached is the layout for what I’m looking for. I think we’re on the same page… I’m still very green with this, but I think I’m catching on. Does this picture look, to you, like what you described?

Thanks,

Jared

Yes, something like that. Add some instructions and buttons…
Not everyone going to this page will need to type in all of the info…
If they are already a member, the email address is their log-in, correct?
(Guessing that by your layout)
So, you want to separate the login from the enter member info.
The titles could be something like…
Already a member: Login in here…

Want to join us: Enter your info here…

Perhaps with a nice square around the two , one around the Already… And, the email and password text areas and one around the rest… Something like that. I think you are getting there…

When you get further, ask away…

PS: I saw a page that had a ton of samples of the login pages. They all just had the login with a small link to “You are not a member?”… But, some of the layouts were interesting… Just thought you might like to view them. You could do the “pretty” part with CSS and add your registration below the login… Worth a peek…
