Java chat

I have a question for you guys.
I’m using a chat often as a user (login with a nick and all)
I was warned by some of the users that they can read my IP address i guess because I’m opening a Java applet.
How can they do that and how can I do the same thing.

You can get a persons IP address with the $_SERVER variables (remote address I beleive).
