Framework or no Framework?

Hello,i was getting ready to actually learn PHP on my own starting next week after thanksgiving. I have 6 weeks to study it i was wondering if that would be enough time to learn enough to actually build a site of my own?

My next question is would it be worth it to actually learn some framework like Symfony2?

Last question i have is where should i actually start with it? any books i should use or online sites?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend using w3schools to get you oriented with php. Depending on if you already have some programming experience, it may take you some time to learn the fundamentals, such as conditionals and loops. If you don’t already have access to a web server with php installed, you can use programs such as xamp to help expediate the process of getting php and apache installed onto your desktop/laptop.
