You will need a Merchant Account.
You will need some sort of shopping cart application.
You will need an SSL certificate.
You should understand Gateways and SSL.
There are several companies out there that help with online payments. Such as Authorize.net, paypal and such.
With that information and a some research you should be able to get a pretty good handle on all that is required to get this going.
