Please, How can we design a web application the front-end and backend can work if either of them fails? I was given a question like this in an interview.

what they said is that how can I develop a system where frontend can be working if backend server is down.
I cant know for sure, but they may have been referring to a cache implementation. That is a pretty broad question without more details. Best thing to do is get back with the interviewer and ask for the answer they were looking for.
