We can be harsh, but that is the nature of the developers I know in general.

Welcome aboard! We are sometime a bit slow in responding, but as long as you show effort there are a few very knowledgeable people that can get the goal accomplished. We generally ask that you take the advice given, though. The idea of ‘I just want to make it work now and I’ll fix the problems later’ is not a truthful statement.
